What are the stories and memories held by a single object, a keep-sake, and do these stories change if they are told at home or viewed in a museum? What does it mean for them to occupy space in public?
For the women of Lingarajapuram, these objects are more than transient items. They carry living memories of a person and capture the time spent with them. A toothbrush, a vase, a lamp or a doll —all carefully tucked away, to be taken out occasionally in a moment of remembrance.
The objects allow us a glimpse into the lives of the women at Namma Katte and extend their sharing process, beyond the space.
