Enne Pidikko? (Will You Hold Me?) invites a meditation on warmth, care, and the profound psychological weight of human touch. The work centres on a pair of handmade gloves crafted with my own hair, with the words enne pidikko? stitched using the same strands. This intimate material carries the trace of the body—delicate yet persistent—binding the question physically and emotionally into the object. The gloves, though madefor holding, remain unreachable inside a glass box. In their containment, they shift from functional objects tosymbols of longing, distance, and the quiet solitude that often accompanies emotional vulnerability. The work is rooted in a moment when touch became scarce. During the pandemic, the absence of physical contactheightened my awareness of how deeply touch influences mental and emotional wellbeing. The simple act of beingheld—something I had often taken for granted—became central to my own experience of anxiety. Without it, thebody felt untethered; the mind, more fragile.By sealing the gloves within glass, the work holds this tension between desire and separation. It asks what touchoffers to our psychological lives, how its absence shapes us, and what it means to yearn for connection when itfeels just out of reach.
